26.2 Mini Loaf and Fuel Me Up 26.2 Bars

The 26.2 Mini Loaves are still available for a healthy breakfast PRE-long run day!  Nothing your tummy can't handle.
Also, we'll be testing the new Fuel Me Up 26.2 Bars this weekend.  You know the ones:  they are the ones that are good to eat about an hour before leaving the starting line.  Super goodness packed. More on these later.
As for latest happenings, Boston 2015 just happened.  A cold (45 degrees), windy ( 15 - 20 mph), and rainy day but with proper eating and pacing, this marathoner made it from start to finish in good shape.

2013 Results

Originally I was going to take the year off racing but then a few things happened.

1. I had a birthday that put me in the LOW end of my age group category.  What better way to compete?!

2. Last years Boston Marathon book arrived with recaps of the “over heated” race and results and stories and…Oh How Could I Resist?!   Third times a charm, right?

3. My husband decided he wanted to run a half marathon…then a FULL marathon.  It’s been my dream to run these longer races with him.

With all that, this is what I signed on for:
January:  12 and 13th  The Goofy Challenge:   Ran the Half with Ted but we both got either food poisoning or some weird flu-type bug. Ended up not being able to run the marathon.

Februrary: Month of training

March:  2nd:  The Heart Run 30K (training run for Boston):  Just a training run. Ran a good 8:24 pace to the 8 mile point where I met up with Ted.  We ran together for a good, easy finish.  Good day for a run but cold and windy.
March 24th:  Syracuse HALF Marathon Ran a PR of 1:46:24, 8:08 ave. pace.  Great course. Cool weather, 32 deg. 5 mph wind.  The course rolled but offered the biggest hill within the first couple of miles.  Felt great. I just knew it was going to go well when we left the house.

April:  6th  Fort2Fort 10K- Good 10K training run for Boston.  A PR of 46:57.
April 15th:  Boston Marathon - Tragedy and it’s awful to remember a race in such a way.  My finish time was 3:46:16.  A best for Boston but not a PR.  Note to self re- future pacing:  See the following Boston mile by mile and next time, BE PATIENT!
8:20, 7:56, 7:58, 7:43, 8:01, 8:04, 8:07, 8:16, 8:15, 8:23, 8:26, 8:17, 8:34, 8:51, 8:41, 8:21, 8:55,

9:16, 8:39, 9:16, 10:06, 8:26, 8:33, 9:05, 9:02, 9:27…7:54.
April 28th: Myrtle Beach DIVA Half Marathon (Runnin’ with my Sista’s  ADE!): Another PR! 1:44:15, average 7:58 per mile.  I felt good and I think I’m learning how to push it a little.  Thanks to those sisters :)

May:  5th Flying Pig - Cincinnati OH *I wanted to run this as my first marathon back in 2010 but it was too hilly. So THIS  is my year!  What I thought was going to be an exceptionally slow race turned out to be fun and fast.  3:45:34, 3rd in my Division. 147 out of 1790 Females. 7 26 out of 4920 total marathoners.
Splits: 8:50, 8:18, 8:26, 8:04, 8:24, 8:06, 8:57, 8:42 8:15, 8:20, 8:11, 8:27, 8:34, 8:30, 8:39, 8:38, 8:26, 8:54, 8:24, 8:31, 8:50, 8:22, 8:50, 8:48, 9:02, 8:34, and 7:56.

June:  Nothing in June but time off.

August:  Turning Stone Half Marathon

September:  22nd – Rochester Marathon

So Far For 2013

Goals and aspirations for 2013.  When surfing the web, it all looks good and definately do-able, especially when the goal is so far away.  Time ticks on and on and soon it's a week before the event.  You're not a quitter.  You signed yourself up for this and now you're going to do it.

What did this ambitious, logic lacking runner get herself into so far for 2013?  Take a look.

The Goofy Race and a Half Challenge:  Half marathon on January 12, 2013 and Full marathon on January 13, 2013.  It was on my bucket list and since I'm turning a BIG BIRTHDAY corner this year, decided to sign up.  My birthday is in January, perfect right?   The husband decided he would try his first HALF marathon and signed up for Saturday's race with me.  What fun!  Well....I'll let you know how much fun after it's over.   Training for this challenge was not fun.  I've run back to back runs every weekend and my body doesn't like it.  I kept my mileage in the 40 range for weekly totals with only one 20 miler.  Like I said, I'll let you know how it goes.

Miscellaneous "Most Likely" events:   March 2nd, Utica's Heart Run, 30K.  April 6th, Fort2Fort 10K.  July 14th, Utica Boilermaker 15K.

Boston Marathon:  Yes, I'm going for it again.  The first year was perfect weather and for my first Boston, I ran a pretty good race.  The second year was smokin' and I don't mean the way I ran, I mean the heat.  It was hot and long, very, very long.  So here we go again for the third year.  My favorite marathon and I hope it's good to me in 2013.

Flying Pig:  The Cinncinati Flying Pig Marathon. The husband will go for his second half marathon and I'll go for another one off the bucket list.  The Flying Pig was actually the marathon I had my eye on as a first then someone told me it was a bit hilly for a first marathon so I've put it off.  Finally, in 2013, I'll tackle that pig and see if I can make it squeal.

And then there is the fall.  You have to love those fall marathons. I'm not sure which one ...or TWO yet, but I have my eye on a few.  If that bucket list comes back into play you'll see me at the Marine Corp. Marathon or maybe Chicago.  A few others that may have to wait until another time are ING New York City, CIM, and Portland.

What are your 2013 race plans?  If you have any MUST RUN suggestions for me, please email or comment.
